However, hydroxytyrosol — one of the naturally occurring olive polyphenols found in olive mill wastewater — has been the subject of emerging scientific research.
One recent double‑blind human study explored how a daily 15 mg supplement of isolated hydroxytyrosol influenced body composition and metabolic markers in adults with higher body fat.

The researchers reported changes in weight, visceral fat and urinary metabolites within the study group.

These findings relate specifically to the purified hydroxytyrosol used in the trial, not to Olive Mill Water™ as a beverage.
